A background check of management and personnel is part of every overall risk policy that aims to safeguard the company from (internal) criminal activity. Although this type of screening mainly focusses on acquiring and selecting new employees, a screening during the time of employment and shortly before termination of the contract is advised. This entire track, the employment screening, should be a fixed part of a company’s security measures.

A thorough employment screening consists of the following three phases:

-Pre-employment screening or check before the start of the contract

-Employment check during the time of employment

-Exit measures shortly before termination of the contract

The difference between the screening and check depends on the job sensitiveness for fraud or criminal activity.
